This is very true. I saw a show on VH1 saying how women are exploited on rap videos, so you definitely have support from the media. You will have a lot of examples to use.
Haha I wonder how you came up with the "Bust it Baby" example considering we talk about it almost everyday in class. Anyways, I recommend you make some sort of video montage to support your topic because since your topic is "how rap video exploit woman," a video is great way to get your point across, showing specific examples in various music videos.
Asia, Sam, and Semmes, this is a very vague topic. If your argument is that rap degrades women, not many people would argue against that. It is obvious that certain rap does degrade women, but not rap as a whole. I can name many rap artists who don’t “exploit” women. More specifically, you are talking about a certain kind of rap, (commercial/mainstream rap, or even a certain rap artist, Plies, or even a specific song, Bust It Baby.
If you want to only talk about “Bust It Baby,” will you analyze the video or lyrics or both? You can argue what messages the song or video or both portray. Are there conflicting messages? (Neyo vs. Plies) Are there conflicting meanings in the song title and the lyrics?
