Topic- Physical Education: Fat Kids Need Love Too

Team Members:
Chris Jenkins
Carlyle Shirley
Daniel Laird

Our group plans on compiling a piece on the necessity of Physical Education in the High School curriculum. It is necessary for the production of healthy and strong minded students. We will use several different media sources to discuss the emotional, physical, and scholarly effects of exercise and teambuilding activities. We will discuss the tradeoff between classroom time for gym time.

This sounds like an interesting topic. You guys should be able to find a lot of credible sources. I like your title.

I like this topic, I think that being physically active is crucial for those in school.

I like your topic and I think you can make a very creative project with it. I am anxious to see how your argument is created throughout your project.

I really like your topic. I think it is creative and appropriate considering today's increasing obesity rate. I think PE should be mandatory in school because many kids in the US do not exercise outside of school.

This is a really good topic. The importance of physical activity for kids is highly underestimated. Ha, I like the title too.

I think it's a fabulous idea

I think you have a great topic here and agree on the importance of physical education in schools. However, I'm not sure I see the connection between your topic and your title. How does physical education translate to love for "fat kids"? You also might want to try and use more politically correct terms such as "overweight" when writing academic papers. Those are just two ideas for you. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your final product.

Maybe you should discuss the actual curriculum of pe classes, bc i know that everytime i had it in the public school system, we just played basketball, so maybe putting a better outline of what should be taught would help out.

It would help your argument if you even analyzed the difference between different high school PE . I'm sure there is a high school somewhere that has a really good program that really helps the kids. You could some how show how this school is different from the ones that just play basketball like ajarvis said.

I use to be fat. So I know how important physical education is in school. We already have enough big kids and they are not healthy.

I think this is a creative topic and agree with where you are going with it. There should be a good amount of sources to go along with your argument.

I like what Semmes said about differences in PE programs. I think it would be really interesting to see a type of alternative PE program where students do more than just play sports.

This is very interesting. I am excited to see how you establish your argument. I also believe that it is necessary for P.E to be in the curriculum, and so do alot of others. There should be numerous resources to back you.

This is a good topic. In my opinion I think it is easy because I dont see a downside to having Physical Education in school. It's healthy for students and most students enjoy it. I'm also interested to see where your going to get your information.

Sounds good I think if fat kids receive a little encouragement and direction they could definitely turn their habits into healthier ones

great idea yall, you could talk to students in different grades and see their take on pe and its neccesity.

Great topic. There should be a lot of information on this and it is an very important topic, because many high schools does not force students to take P.E.

I think the topic is great I agree that physical education is a must have but the title, "fat kids need love too" is that necessary?

I agree that it's important in high shcool curriculum. Like some have suggested, I think you should maybe talk about the different programs in different schools, or the type that should be offered. One high school I went to didn't call it PE, they called it Fitness, and it was intense. We had weight lifting twice a week, running/sprinting twice a week, and yoga/arobics once a week. It didn't really promote any teambuilding, they were just trying to make us stay healthy and keep us from getting fat.

Brett Czechowski said...

The Fitness in that school was competitive and, although competition can be good in some cases, I felt like here it was neagtive. They were trying to breed athletes and if you weren't one of the best then you had a different workout, and were treated differently. That may tie in with your emotional part of the argument.

I like the topic and agree that physical education is important in the high school curriculum. It seems that even when it is included, only one year is required. But, although the title is conveyed in a hurmorous manner, I find it a little demeaning.

This is a good argument to chose. There are a lot of creative ways you can present your information.
